Nashville, Tenn. (July 9, 2020) – With the demand for food assistance reaching all-time highs due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Nashville Predators have partnered with the Bellevue Community Food Bank to participate in a food drive, which will take place at Ford Ice Center Bellevue (July 13-17) and Bellevue United Methodist Church (July 18). The food bank operates year-round and relies on larger, high-yield drives to sustain their operation for up to four months at a time.

“Especially since the opening of Ford Ice Center Bellevue, the Nashville Predators organization has received endless support from the people of Bellevue, and we are excited to join forces with the Bellevue Community Food Bank to give back to them,” Nashville Predators Vice President of Community Relations Rebecca King said. “Particularly considering the demand increase due to COVID-19, providing food for those in need is crucial, and we thank our fans for supporting these efforts by donating next week.”

Established in 1991 as an outreach ministry of Bellevue United Methodist Church, the Bellevue Community Food Bank has seen its number of beneficiaries double during the COVID-19 outbreak. Many of those who rely on food donations are disabled, grandparents raising grandchildren, restricted medically or supporting their family on a single income. The need for donations has reached a critical level, and the Food Bank depends on the support of Bellevue area businesses and individuals, as it does not receive support from any agencies outside of Bellevue.

Long-time Predators partner Kroger has also contributed to the drive and recently announced the donation of 10 shopping carts to the Bellevue Community Food Bank. As many volunteers are in their 70s and 80s, the donation of these carts will significantly improve their ability to transport food and collect the items that they need safely and effectively.
